My favourite dish in North Indian cuisine! Whenever I get a chance to go to a North Indian restaurant,my order will be Dal. You can serve the moong dal fry with Indian flat breads like roti, paratha or with cumin rice or steamed basmati rice. This Dal Fry recipe is one of my absolute favorites.

  1. Firstly, wash dals add in a pressure cooker add turmeric powder, water cook till 4-5 whistles switch off the heat..
  2. Now take in a kadhai heat 1 tbsp ghee add cumin seeds, cardamom, 1 bay leaf and dried red chilli saute for a minute..
  3. Add onion, green chilli, ginger+garlic paste saute for a minute..
  4. Now add tomato and saute till the tomatoes turn soft..
  5. Now add turmeric powder, salt, garam masala powder, coriander powder mix well..
  6. Now add cooked dal add 1/2 cup water adjust consistency as required..
  7. Cover and simmer for 5 minutes..
  8. Serve mix dal fry with hot steamed rice or chapati..
