- It's 1 cup of rice.
- You need 1/2 cup of chana dal.
- It's 1 of big onion.
- It's 1 of cinnamon stick.
- It's 1 of tej patta.
- Prepare 1 of black cardomom.
- It's 5/6 pod of black pepper.
- It's 2/3 of cloves.
- It's 1 tsp of cumin seeds.
- You need 1 tsp of turmeric powder.
- It's 1 tsp of red chilli powder.
- It's to taste of Salt.
- Prepare 1 tbls of oil.

- Soak rice and dal separately for about 30 minutes.
- In a heavy bottom rice pan add oil when hot add all khare masalas when splatter add sliced onions and saute them till dark brown.
- Add all dry masalas stir it now add soaked chanadal saute it.
- Add soaked rice stir with light hands add 3 cups or little more water depends upon the quality of rice give nice boil when 90% water evaporat slow the flame cover the lid and let it cook for more about 10 minutes.
- Don't open the lid quickly after few minutes with the back of ladle give stir to rice and take out in serving bowl.
- Serve with any raita of your choice or curd.
